Monde des Arts Intercultural Theatre Festival in Luxembourg 2

The "Monde Des Arts" Intercultural Theatre Festival is a vibrant, multilingual, one-day celebration brimming with creativity, new friendships, and unforgettable theatrical experiences. Founded by Monde Des Arts a.s.b.l., the festival's primary aim is to inject a fresh and dazzling event into Luxembourg's theatrical scene. It provides a platform for children, youth and adult groups to display their talents, allows theatre educators to exchange expertise and forge new connections, and emphasizes the importance of the arts as a crucial tool for creative expression and social engagement among the young.

The festival will take place in Luxembourg City in the autumn of 2024. The exact venue and dates will be announced soon.

Community and Artistic Pursuit
Bring together theatre studios and ensembles from various countries, all residing in Luxembourg, fostering a sense of community and shared artistic pursuit.

Instil values of peace, non-violence, tolerance, and international solidarity in Luxembourg's youth, cultivating a generation that cherishes and respects diversity. 

Youth Engagement
Provide engaging leisure activities for the youth, uncover hidden talents, encourage creative expression, and elevate the performance quality of participating groups. 

Participant Performances
Showcasing a wide range of talents and theatrical styles.
Participants are required to prepare two distinct performances:

- Performance 1: "Business Card" 
Each group should create a short performance that highlights the cultural heritage of the association members. The presentation can take any artistic form such as drama, vocal performances, dance, mime, or shadow theatre. The duration of this performance must not exceed 5 minutes.

- Performance 2: "Homework" 
A month before the festival, the theme for this second presentation will be published on the festival's website. Participants will then have time to create and rehearse a performance that aligns with the given theme. This performance will be showcased during the festival and can also be presented in various artistic forms. The duration for this performance must not exceed 7 minutes.

Festival Schedule
Before the festival begins, a draw will determine the performance order and announce the festival's theme. Participants are then invited to present a theatrical performance that reflects the theme, showcasing the unique cultural heritage of their country and its connection to Luxembourg.

Festival Outcomes
Our jury and audience will select winners in several categories. The best team, as judged by the jury, will receive a monetary certificate to support the development of their association.

The festival welcomes participants of all ages and nationalities residing in Luxembourg or a Greater Region, including children's and youth theatres, creative collectives, and adult theatres. The participants are categorised as follows:  

Youth: Ages 10-29 years 
Adults: Ages 29-99 years 

Interested participants must submit an application to the Organizing Committee, including a group resume, photographs or videos of past performances, and a link to a video introduction (maximum 3 minutes). The Organizing Committee will then select the festival participants and inform applicants. The deadline for application submissions is August 31.
